This December 6th is the 13th Colorado Gives day, since its inception in 2010. On this day, Coloradans from across the state come together to support the nonprofits that make a difference in their lives.  For me, as an Eagle County resident, skier, hiker, biker, and water professional, this nonprofit is the Eagle River Watershed Council (of which I had the honor of joining the Board of Directors earlier this year). While I would encourage you to donate to the Watershed Council throughout the entirety of the year, giving support to the Watershed Council on Colorado Gives Day boosts your donation through an incentive fund, increasing the impact your donation has.

The nonprofit Watershed Council is a science-based advocate for the river. We are currently in a 20-year drought and the Watershed Council is actively working to maintain the quality and quantity of water in the Eagle, the Upper Colorado, and the tributaries to both. This is done through stream reclamation projects, annual road and river cleanups, providing educational and outreach opportunities for the community, and monitoring and responding to current and future threats to the watershed. The staff at ERWC work every day of the year to restore and protect the waterways at the heart of our community and they need your support to continue this incredibly important work.

If you feel as fortunate as I do that we get to live and recreate in this beautiful mountainous valley that provides us with access to clean rivers and public lands, please consider a donation to Eagle River Watershed Council on Colorado Gives Day, Tuesday December 6th.
