The Eagle River Coalition team and folks from Colorado Parks & Wildlife were out doing a fish population study on Gypsum Creek recently.
The team found evidence to prove that Gypsum Creek is important spawning grounds for our local trout populations, and found many sculpin in the reach.
Sculpins are often considered the “canary in the coal mine,” when it comes to river health. They are very susceptible to metals and pollutants and their presence shows that Gypsum Creek is a pretty healthy stream.
