The 26th Annual Community Pride Highway Cleanup is a longstanding community event is crucial for keeping the roadways and ditches clean of litter, which would likely otherwise make its way to sensitive riverine habitats. It is because of the hard work of team leaders and volunteers, as well as the generosity of sponsors, that this event is possible! Thank you!
Legacy Team Leaders
Some teams have participated in the cleanups for years, and they get first right of refusal for cleaning their section. In late February, existing/legacy team leaders can expect an email from cleanup@eagleriverco.org requesting a response to confirm participation as a team leader. If we do not receive your confirmation by March 20, your section may be opened to allow for other teams to participate. Following your confirmation, we will solidify your team’s designated clean-up section along Interstate 70, Hwy 24, Hwy 6, or CO River Road between Sweetwater and Dotsero.
If you are unable to volunteer as a team leader this year, you may find your own replacement team leader or let us know that you are unable, and we will open your section.

Interested in being a free-agent volunteer?
If you want to join a team, but don’t know any team leaders seeking volunteers, you can submit this form to become a free-agent volunteer. Free-agent volunteers will be contacted by a team leader the final week in April, and the team leader will share the group’s meeting place, provide a safety vest, and share other details.
Longstanding Community Event
Eagle River Coalition is excited to share that its 26th Annual Community Highway Pride Cleanup is scheduled for Saturday May 2, 2026.

Every year, hundreds of dedicated volunteers participate in the county-wide Community Pride Highway Cleanup.
From its inception in the early 2000’s, in which nearly 50 tons of trash had accumulated and was removed, great strides have been made to reduce littering, and now an average of 10-15 tons of debris is removed annually.
A big thank you to all who have participated, and thank you for your interest in ensuring this event remains a cornerstone community event each spring. It’s because of the hundreds of volunteers and many sponsors that this event is able to make such a difference year after year.
Our board and staff are always looking for event sponsors for the cleanup and our mission-driven programs and events and we welcome inquiries about opportunities for sponsorships and volunteer groups. By supporting the cleanup as a sponsor, you help keep local landscapes and the wildlife and communities that depend upon them clean, safe, and healthy. You can find out more about our sponsorship opportunities here. Please reach out to Melanie Smith, Development Director, at development@eagleriverco.org with questions.
Thank you, Volunteers!
If this year is similar to years prior, we anticipate removing many tons of trash, thanks to the time and efforts of hundreds of volunteers.
Thank you so much to everyone who helps this event happen safely. Here are some pictures from last years’ teams. Please feel free to email your team photos to cleanup@eagleriverco.org following the event!
