Project Description:
Eagle River Coalition and Eagle County Open Space and Natural Resources are seeking volunteers to help enhance riparian habitat by employing processed based restoration through building low-tech Post Assisted Log Structures (PALS) structures along Brush Creek on the Brush Creek Valley Ranch & Open Space property in Eagle, CO. The goal of the project is to restore stream complexity and improve wildlife habitat.
This project will take place Saturday September 26 & Sunday September 27 from 9am – 3pm. Lunch will be provided both days.
Volunteers should expect to get wet, as work will take place in the creek, and the work will be fairly arduous (moving heavy objects like logs, working in the sun with minimal shade, working on unstable footing).
What to bring:
- Sturdy closed toed shoes (NO sandals or flip flops)
- Waders or knee high wading boots -optional but nice have
- Gloves – there will be gloves provided, but if you have ones you prefer to use please feel free to bring them
- Long sleeves & long pants
- Sun Protection – optional but recommended, sunscreen, sun hat, sunglasses
- Warm Layer – bring layers to be prepared for changing weather conditions
- Water – there will be a water cooler to refill bottles
- Snacks – Lunch will be provided but bring your favorite snacks
- A good attitude & willingness to work hard!
