The Eagle River Coalition is thrilled to announce the winners of its seventh annual Peak Flow Prediction Contest. The contest is an annual fundraiser for stream restoration and monitoring projects, as well as engaging educational programs. River enthusiasts from across the nation participated in the contest, which was virtual and closed April 18, 2025.

Contest participants entered to win amazing prizes donated by nationally-known recreation brands, including Fishpond USA, Vail Resorts and Rancho del Rio for purchasing guesses of the date and time of the Eagle River’s peak flow at the Gypsum gage.

According to the USGS website, Eagle River peaked twice at the Gypsum gage – first on June 3 at 11:45 am, and then again at 1 pm, both with a flow of 2,630 cubic feet per second (cfs). Last year, the peak took place at 7:45 am on June 9, topping out at 3,010 cfs. With a guess of June 3 at 11 am, Karen Grangaard, of Waconia, MN, had the closest guess to one of the two peak flow events. She will receive a Fishpond USA rolltop bag, Mythology American Whiskey and an Eagle River Coalition hat.

Additional winners include Lindsay Hardy – whose guess was 2 hours away from a peak flow event, Elizabeth McDaniel and Laurel Broy. First through third places received prizes to recognize their guesses.

Thank you to all who participated in and supported the 2025 Peak Flow Prediction Contest.
